ACT Labor refuse take donations from big corporations like property developers, big tobacco and anyone involved in firearms. We prefer to get our support from grassroots supporters who share our progressive Labor values.

Whenever someone donates to ACT Labor they must declare that the following are true and correct:
The funds I am donating are not provided to me by another person or entity for the purpose of making this contribution.
That this payment is not made by or on behalf of the 'tobacco industry' or by an organisation primarily engaged in the manufacture, distribution, sale or promotion of firearms as prohibited by the ALP Rules and Code of Conduct for Fundraising.
That I am not a property developer, a close associate of a property developer, nor a person giving a gift on behalf of a property developer, or a close associate of a property developer as defined under the Electoral Act 1992 (ACT).
That in the event I am a property developer, a close associate of a property developer, or a person giving a gift on behalf of a property developer (defined under the Electoral Act 1992), that I, or the person on whose behalf I am acting, do not currently have one or more relevant planning applications that are yet to have been decided; or in the 7 years prior to the giving of this donation, have not made three or more relevant planning applications
That I am not a foreign donor as defined under the Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918 or a Foreign Entity under the Electoral Act 1992 (ACT)
ACT Labor has used it's time in government to make campaign funding transparent. The ACT Labor Government wrote and introduced the legislation that now ensures all political parties and candidates must disclose any donation over $1000. And we made sure there were no loopholes by making it cumulative - meaning donors can't split a larger donation into small amounts to get around the law.
